A new James Bond movie is coming next year, and with it a brand new Aston Martin developed exclusively for the world’s most famous spy, the Aston Martin DB10. We’re not talking a regular production model but a special, limited run of 10 cars that will be used for filming of the new Bond flick, which will be called the Spectre.

The new DB10 was revealed today at special event held at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. where much of the filming will take place. Daniel Craig returns to play the title role and will star alongside fellow actors Andrew Scott, Lea Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Monica Bellucci and Dave Bautista. Sam Mendes will serve as director for the new movie, which is due for release late next year and set to be the 24th member of the ever-growing franchise.

As for the DB10, it continues a partnership between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise that spans 50 years. It started with the appearance of a DB5 in 1964'sGoldfinger and since seen various other Astons appear on the silver screen including an original DBS, an original Vanquish and more recently the latest DBS. Though it's yet to be confirmed, there are rumors Bond may also drive a Fiat 500 in Spectre.
Though likely based on Aston Martin’s existing platform found in the latest Vantage, DB9 and Vanquish models, the DB10 is completely bespoke and features a design penned by Aston Martin’s chief designer Marek Reichman. Reichman worked closely with director Mendes to pen the car, the first of which was made by hand at Aston Martin’s Gaydon headquarters.

It’s clear the design of the DB10 is unlike any other Aston Martin; this is because it’s believed to also be a preview of the DB9 replacement due in the coming years. The lines are much sharper than on any current Aston, the headlights are grille also feature new designs, and the sides and rear portion borrow elements from this year’s DB-100 concept designed for the Gran Turismo video game series.

“In the same year that we celebrate our 50-year relationship with 007, it seems doubly fitting that today we unveiled this wonderful new sports car created especially for James Bond,” Aston Martin’s new CEO Andy Palmer said at the reveal. “To be partnering once again with EON Productions is great news for this company and for everyone around the world that loves to see Bond at the wheel of an Aston Martin.”
